Who do you find it easier to buy for – guys or gals? I definitely find it easier to buy for the gals in my life…guys are tough for me! Kind of funny seeing how I have so many boys in my life! My dad has always been one of those hard to buy for people for me. We always joke that every year he just asks for the same things (no matter what the holiday) – shirts and socks. I usually end up trying to make one of his favorite treats – like these chocolates or this cheesecake pie. This year when thinking about guy gifts, I realized I had never made beard oil before! And since making my own beauty products is one of my favorite things, and I’ve got quite a few guys in my life with beards, my dad included, I knew I needed to try it out!
This DIY beard oil hydrates and soothes skin. It also softens your beard and can help promote growth with the right essential oils in it! And it smells so good! (I want to steal it for myself….as a skin moisturizer of course, no beard here!). 😜 It’s the perfect gift for the bearded fellows in your life, and it makes a nice Father’s Day gift if you’re looking for a simple and easy homemade gift! There’s even a label for your bottle that you can download and print.
This DIY beard oil uses a mix of carrier oils and essential oils. I also added in a little Vitamin E oil, because it’s so good for your skin. For carrier oils (carrier oils are used to dilute essential oils and carry them to your skin) you can use jojoba, argan, grapeseed, or almond oil. I used a mix of jojoba and argan.
For the essential oils, I always use Young Living essential oils – it’s really important to use high quality oils on your skin! You can read more about that here. I’m big into mixing scents and always tend to lean more toward woodsy scents. The list below includes popular “guy scents”, as well as two essential oils that can help promote hair growth: rosemary and cedarwood.
Essential Oils:
Rosemary (helps promote hair growth)
Cedarwood (helps promote hair growth)
Sandalwood
Black Spruce
Vetiver
Patchouli
Frankincense
Black Pepper
Copaiba
Bergamot
