This is one of those projects that I had huge, grand plans for and it kept falling apart – I had originally wanted to dry out large, natural palms and then paint them with neutral and stone spray paints for my living room. First I waited too long to order palms and I ended up taking leftovers from the church that I work at after Palm Sunday and then they sat in the back seat of my car and I never hung them out to dry. (And yes, they’re still just rotting away in my back seat because that’s just the type of person I am – and it’s too cold to clean out my car.) So I bought some palms from Michael’s which I ended up being pretty excited about because there was so many different kinds. I bought two different types of stone spray paints and both ended up being terrible. So I made the decision – while fighting my PMS instincts to sob uncontrollably over painting fake plants – and painted them all with a matte white spray paint. I was surprisingly happy with how they turned out and love how they look in my living room so I decided to just go ahead and share them and the frustration that came along with them!
We don’t often talk about the failed projects or the crying or the lulls we deal with in blogging but it’s very real and can be super frustrating. Sometimes you come out with a project that you really like – like today! But sometimes you’ve got a pile of ruined projects and you just jump in bed and watch Gilmore Girls for the rest of the night. That’s real life. What you need:
-Assorted Palms & Greenery
–Matte White Spray Paint
How to make it:
-Spray on one side of the leaves and let dry. Flip over and repeat. You will probably need to do at least two coats. Go ahead – go fail at a few projects and then come up with some new ones! And try not to cry inbetween! 😉
