In celebration of Earth Day, we’re partnering with Aveeno to share this fun way to reuse empty cosmetic moisturizer jars! We love finding ways to repurpose items – whether it’s old bottles, old lumber or vintage furniture, we’ve been repurposing/upcycling items for as long as we can remember! Sometimes the best projects come from repurposed things – and it’s an easy way to do your part to care for the planet as well, so it’s a win-win.
It can be easy to forget to recycle things like lotion bottles and plastic cosmetic moisturizer jars – but it’s really so simple to: just give your empty containers a quick rinse and then toss in the recycle bin. Or even better, you can take those old jars, rinse them out and then create these simple, modern storage jars. They’re perfect for small bathroom items that end up cluttering your bathroom drawers, like bobby pins and hair ties. They’re also small enough to fill with something like cotton balls and throw in your overnight bag and now you have a cute travel container! Or use them in your office for paper clips and thumb tacks.
Materials:
– empty jars (we used Aveeno Positively Radiant Overnight Hydrating Facial jars)
– spray paint
– epoxy
– craft wood balls – 1-inch (make sure they have a flat side)
– letter stickers
Directions:
Make sure your jars are clean and dry. Apply 3-4 coats (or until you get full coverage) of spray paint on the jars and lids, following directions on can for dry times. Once jars and lids are painted and have dried, place a thin layer of epoxy on bottom of wood ball and attach to lid. Label your jars with sticker letters.
Do you have any favorite upcycling projects or materials that you love to repurpose? We’d love to hear what you’ve created! Check out more ways that you can help our planet by recycling & and upcycling here.
